Using the Split tool, if you draw a line across the hole, the split line will show up inside the hole. Not what we would like...
Here is a Workaround:
Using the Split Tool, start digitizing outside the polygon and then zoom in and digitize near the inside of one side of the hole, continuing through the rest of the polygon.
